How to drain transmission fluid on a 2002 dodge intrepid.

Asked by SukiB Mar 19, 2018 at 10:03 PM about the 2002 Dodge Intrepid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son filled my transmission fluid on a
2002 dodge intrepid to full.  Where is the
screw to drain transmission fluid back
down. Also. I have heard it both ways if you
have to run the car to check the level. What
is the truth on that?

I believe there is no drain plug, the transmission pan must be removed to drain the fluid.

Unhook the rubber line to the radiator. It's on the left top side. Put the line over a pan on the ground. Start the car and the fluid will run out quick, few seconds should remove enough fluid. This line cools the fluid through the radiator. You'll have to remove top section that covers radiator.

I used a turkey baster and a hose to suction extra fluid out once.
