A code reader (except the really cheap ones) can blank the OBD codes, or remove battery for several minutes; see: https://www.obd-codes.com/faq/reset_obd_codes.php

By fixing the problem and resetting the computer with a scanner.

Autozone can shut the check engine light off for you. Run a couple of tanks of Shell V power through the system. This will clean up any crap you have in the system and the engine light should stay off. Don't use cheap gas. Buy Mobil if you use 87 octane and Shell if you use premium.
