my 1999 neon all of sudden is overheating what to check

overheated, stopped put water and antifreeze in makes a hissing sound

If you hear a hissing sound then you have a leak, and have to look for it, find it, then repair it. What ever you do, do not be driving it to get it overheated, you'll have a lot more to repair if you do.
