trans is in limp in mode. If ck eng light is on, it needs to be adressed. Does speedo work? These trans sreed sensors like to fail. These transmissions dont use a modulator valve.....all electric. If you use a basic scanner, and you have a transmission code, it will be a p0700 code. Transmission code present. You will need to be able to communicate with transmission module.
NO ENGINE LIGHT ON. SO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

it may be worth it to have dealer look at it. I dont want you to just throw parts at it. A good diag. is worth the money. If trans is damaged, its better to know that then throw parts at a bad trans. And the repair my be cheaper than an overhaul. Which alot of trans. shops want to do.
A side note: These early Chrysler 4 speed automatics were not the most reliable. A transmission fluid service (new filter and 4 qts of Dexron 4) should be performed every 20-25k miles regardless of what the glovebox manual tells you.
