need help finding body parts for a 79 volare
Asked by Jesse Apr 17, 2011 at 12:11 AM about the 1979 Plymouth Volare
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a volare project car that I am working on. I'm still trying to get it running, but I due plan to eventually restore it. I need a lot of body parts, and I can't find any of them. I need the grille, horn and mounting bracket, the left front turn signal assembly, the chrome plymouth faceplate that attaches to the front of the hood, the volare emblems for both front doors and the trunk, the right tail light assembly, and the plastic plymouth plate that goes on the back of the car. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. I can even use just the lenses for the tail light and turn signal assemblies, if I can't get the whole thing.

almost impossable to find parts.
If it wasn't for eBay these days, a lot of older cars that don't have a huge following- like this guy's Volare wagon- would never get fixed up and would end up at the crusher....
Of course they have, after 32+ years. And that is what makes this car worth saving if its owner likes the thing.

If your car is a wagon, I sell reproduction tail light lenses. I don't have the housing but I do have the lenses. I also have the side marker lights for it. contacto@micasymas.com

Upon helping restore 2 a 76 and 78.. I found the dodge aspen, duster or valiant (pretty much same damn car) parts a lot fit on the 78.. the 76.. not so much lol it was only duster and very very little aspen parts. But actually the 78 a lot of the car was restored using aspen parts .. even the aspen, duster and valiant in the same year or year after (79) had the same slant 6.. 3.7 and all.. but problem was it was a hit or miss that in the 76 some were a 2.8, very little were a 3.2 .. rarely found a stock 3.7. Now for some reason several junk yards we went to and checked out a lot had the 360 on the 76 models (duster or aspen or valiant) so we found a good friend to let us have the 360 if we did the work for practically. . Went to put it in the volare. .. DID NOT FIT and since the slant 6 was hard to find we went with a 318 for.the 76 ... the 78 I wanted to keep the slant 6 .. economically it was better since I was going to be driving it when I wanted instead.of strictly for shows like the 76. Granted it wasn't my work car lol just something to show off to my dad's store car Club guys that thought ricers were such a better way to go and sexier (something about being the only female in a group of 30 guys that knew anything about how to do some restoration on American muscle instead of buying pastiche and bullshit for imports made several.of them not like me, some act intimidated and several loved it.. but my dad owned the business they represented and used for their add ons and bullcrap) so when I showed up after the 78 volare was done .. I watched several not believe that yes with some basic knowledge, a lot of patience, people in low places and a refusal to be laughed at.. We turned the slant 6 into one mean sounding, nice start torque, with the power to match just with some turbo, aND mostly adjustments. ... it was more powerful than the 318 in the 76 . We coyld.run the boost pretty high since the slant is double walled and meant to be aluminum block u can run the boost high as hell but I wouldn't unless ur dragging. I could run one booster on a quarter and not touch the other or go any higher unless I dragged the very few times I did ... got so much power. Run one booster on half and u got all the same v8 power pretty much. After a few years I took the boost out , lowered carb intake and kept the slant 6 for show's and Sunday drives ... but it was nice to school the import freaks on how to make a slant 6 more powerful than a 318 . But as long as u don't have the volare wagon edition 76 volare and most aspen parts go hand in hand.. a 78 then u can use aspen, duster , or valiant parts body, interior, engine , all pretty much interchangeable
