Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 04 gmc sierra with a 4.3, was driving one day and it just died, no warning, no
chugging, nothing. got it to restart and would run for a minute then die. did that a few
times and now nothing. got it to start by putting fuel in the throttle body and would run as
long as I kept thr rpms up. now it wont even do that. ideas anyone?

1st check to ensure that its getting fuel, if not it could be a plugged filter or the fuel pump(which is located in the gas tank). If fuel is not the issue then check to see if you are getting a spark by pulling a plug wire from one of the plugs and spark testing it. If there is no spark then test the ignition module that is located in the distributor. I've had a couple cut in and out and run a few weeks and then nothing, ever again. Of course I've assumed you already checked all the distributor wires and that the cap and rotor are good. Sometimes a cap or rotor can look fine and have a defect or failure that isn't visible but results in catastrophic failure. Good luck
