2002 gmc envoy ignition

My friend let me borrow his car told me there was a button I
had to press to release the key and turn the car off I did
severel times thru the day but at the end I tried to start it
and the key just turns super easy like no resistance at all
what could it be and how do I fix it

You're one of the lucky ones where the hole is pre-drilled out of the column. That button is probably stuck. I'd replace the ignition switch, likely that's your problem that started this whole thing.
