1999 Ford Taurus Antifreeze leak

Okay so I have leak on the passenger side of the
car I just replaced the water pump and after I did
that the temp gage is going midway then dropping
down to cold, also replaced my thermostat and the
same problem, with the leak idk if I see any oil or
not I had a buddy look and he sees it coming from
beside the water pump and I’m just worried it’s the
timing cover, if you gave have any ideas let me
know

No I didn’t so your saying it’s most likely not the timing cover cause my car would overheat before I get a reading?
