Tranny swap

I have a 97 GMC sierra 1500 and I
blew out the high gears and only
have 1st and 2nd ....i have a 4l80
4speed and can't find a replacement
and a buddy has a turbo 350 he will
give me....i sometimes haul heavy
rolls of carpet so speed really isnt
my cobcern its a work truck but gets
used everydsy! will that work with my
truck until I can afford the $1300 for
a rebuild?

It's not a feisable short term swap. Yes it should bolt on but your 4l80e is electronic whereas the turbo 350 is not and without a signal from the tramsmission the computer is going to get grumpy. You'd also need a longer driveshaft and probably have to figure out a u joint also
