WERE 1953 CORVETTES FIBERGLASS BODYS

Hello, Yes, all Corvettes have fiberglass bodies. Chevy had some fun with the first Corvettes in 1953. They were not used to having cars with fiberglass bodies, and the cars were not grounded properly. They therefore did not start! Chevy went about fixing this little quirks, and drivers have been enjoying the cars since. - CarGrrl

Basically the early vettes (53 through 62) were really 953 full size chevy chassis with a fwe changes. The torn in half over the rear axle, had bad brakwes, bad grounds and in general were terrible cars, i own a 59 bought new and has 3 original tires. This car is why I am a fair mechanic. Stored since 1983 it is still a lemon but it is MY LEMON. 5 engines, radio never stops scanning, wiring is always hot, etc. acmexman

Contrary to the old rumors we used to hear as kids, Chevrolet has NEVER built a metal bodied production Corvette. They have all been fiberglass. They have changed the construction method of creating the fiberglass panels through the years and now some panels are being constructed from carbon fiber.

Wrap your ass in fiberglass. Only shop and experimental Corvettes, not for sale and destroyed right away, were made with metal parts.
