what would cause my 1994 GMC 1500 sierra to not start after oil change
Asked by skyeblue1313 May 30, 2014 at 11:42 PM about the 1994 GMC Sierra 1500
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
His truck was running a bit rough before he did the oil change, now the truck won't start at
all. Can you maybe give us some ideas on what may be wrong with it? Thank you for any
information you can provide.

Oh, & the check engine light is on, threw a code (I can't remember the numbers) but i believe it was for the ECM & or Spark Control Failure. Any ideas?

Check, main fuse, then check for firing, pull a spark plug wire, turn over see if you get spark,if spark is there check fuel relays.

Ok I will tell him to do that, he will have to do it tomorrow as it's already 9pm here in Cali, but if it doesn't work or I/we need more help I will be back, lol thank you so much for your help so far
Is that by chance a vortex engine?
If it turns out that it is. Don't spray anything in the breather like gas or starter fluid to try and start it. Cause if you do and it backfires out the intake you will be replacing that to cause they are plastic.

Ok I just talked to my other son (his twin brother) who was with him today, he said the alternator, belts etc were spinning but the motor wouldn't start
Ok that's great. Just had to throw that out there. Do as stated by topshadetree . Check for fire, fuel and air. The one that's missing will lead you to your solution. Good luck and keep us posted.

It is a fuel or spark problem, just got to narrow it down
1994 - I am leaning to possibly a fuel pump issue if it's never been replaced. Also have them check for anything that might have come unhooked while they were working on it.
