89 Cherokee VS 89 Trooper (i4)

Asked by Ben Oct 29, 2012 at 09:50 PM about the 1989 Isuzu Trooper

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

These two 4x4's have comparable
miles, wear, and price. I'm hearing
wonderful rumors about the 4
cylinder Troopers MPG and like the
look of it. The jeep I've heard is just
plain old bullet proof.

I'm a handy man and need a good
winter car with cargo room. One day
maybe I'll pull a small trailer. That and
occasionally camping. Nothing
extreme. No mudding or Rock
Crawling. Which should I get?

I love my 89 trooper, this was built for extreme durability. There are skid plates covering everything vital underneath. As a handy man, you will find manuals that will tear down the entire vehicle with detailed instructions on putting it back. Parts are pretty available, and planetisuzu is a website with lots of enthusiasts, helpful owners, and parts. Can't speak for the cherokee.
