The back door of my 2005 Honda Pilot is suddenly very heavy to open and slams shut when closing - something is wrong with the two closing brackets. How do I fix this???

They need to be replaced. They can be bought just about anywhere, they're called "hatch lift supports" or "hatch struts" or simply "hatch pistons." Any parts counter person will know what you're talking about. There is no real way to repair them, just replace them.
