Have you taken it to the DEALER and when you say mechanic do you mean the Technician?
mechanic / technician = same thing. i dont see why that was relevant. anyways if the mechanic says its not the tranny what was his diagnosis or was that it? a good mechanic would have been able to trouble shoot your problem and give you a definitive diagnosis.
The "relevance" in distinction with the specificity requested is that the reference to "MECHANIC" most often than not pertains to a local gas station GARAGE grease monkey who also pumps gas and a "TECHNICIAN" is a DEALER CERTIFIED AUTHORIZED MECHANIC aware of all service bulletins who services day in day out the vehicle and knows it like the back of his hand and can work on it BLINDFOLDED!
you just called your "technician" a "dealer certified authorized MECHANIC " lol. a "technician" is someone who went to a school in a certain field. aka automotive technician, veterinary technician, pharmacy technician etc. your "grease monkey" could very well be a TECHNICIAN who just finished school and doesnt have enough experience under his/her belt. the TECHNICIAN at your DEALER might be that person and is working his way from the bottom. They also have TECHNICIANS that are ASE certified in different aspects automotive technology. it could be anything from tearing engines apart and rebuilding them to body work. An ASE master TECHNICIAN is one who has gone through all the required testing and schooling to be at the top of that field. id like to see you call an ASE master technician a mechanic.
So you want to split hairs with me? I guess you are the Local Garage $29.99 Tune Up guy. Yes, I did type intentionally mechanic and stand by it! What makes that MECHANIC a "TECHNICIAN" besides his ASE at a DEALERSHIP is the fact that unlike your gas station Grease Monkey they are Certified Diagnostic Technicians specialized in depth in the specific technology and mechanical quirks of the brand they service in this case HONDA and obtain meticulous training in the latest technology pertaining to all the maker platforms which your average Mom & Pop corner station, Exxon or Sunoco GAS STATION guy does not have available to him. PepBoys being a step above any local Gas Station and a National franchise does not even have ASE strict requirements for the guys working on the cars one only needs a valid driver's license as well as successfully completing a drug screen and background check!. IMAGINE then the knowledge base a Gas Station MECHANIC would have NOT, to truly and correctly diagnose a vehicle! Automotive Technicians & Mechanics Pep Boys is looking for qualified Automotive Technicians & Mechanics to join our automotive service team. Be careful that's how the Nazi and Communists start, first going after speech and ideas (they do not agree with) followed by book burning! ....therefore I say TOMATO! or what ever I want to say:)
i agree with tom it could be clogged converter making it backfeed causing it to be unable to accelerate above 45 mph. very common problem with converters
