What is causing serpentine belt to keep slipping at fan clutch??

Asked by sfleming020112 Sep 22, 2015 at 03:32 PM about the 2001 Honda Passport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced alternator and belt recently. Also bought shorter belt and bypassed
the air conditioner since compressor went out and I can't afford to replace
that right now.  Anyways, now after only driving a short distance around the
block the belt seems to be slipping At the fan.  Had a mechanic take a look
and he says everything appears to be Aligned properly. But the belt keeps
shredding. Any ideas on what the problem might be???

I think you're right. I think I'm gonna need an idler replacement in place of the AC rather than just bypassing it all together. Any idea on how to find out which one of those I need? Lol. Thanks.
