You have an intermittent ground...clean the end of the Black 1/0 cable from the battery where it attaches to the chassis ground with a wirebrush~

might be time for a brand NEW battery....they only last five years with this new tin/antimony alloy they are made of these days~

is it the overhead console? Map lights or do the interior light flicker?

It's the console lights, speedometer goes to zero, wipers come on, but the van keeps going. Cleaned the corroded battery cable today, hopefully that will help something. :)

what you have discribed is a bus issue. The network on the vehc. Head light come on. wipers come on. It is set up this way for safety. the BCM(body control module) talks to Front control module over the bus. The FCM controls the lights. So you can see why they come on if Bus goes down. Nothing like having your lights turn off by themself...lol One of the weakest points on these vehicals is the radio. It is hooked into the bus as well. you can unplug it from bus by unplugging the two pin wire at back of radio. you will loose steering wheel audio controls, if you have them. Radio is just a thought. This is where I always start when dealing with bus issue on these vehicals. I hope this helps.......Any questions feel free ask

My van did this as well. I replaced the metal battery connectors with lead connectors. Haven't had a problem in over 2 years since this was done. Fixed!!

Had the exact same light show crazy gauges on my t&c 2013. For us it turns out it was the blind spot sensor. Dealership mechs first tried the right side sensor and no change, BUT after they also replaced the left side, it was all good. Its been 6 months now and still good.

My 2008 T&C was doing the same thing. All dash lights come on flicker with wipers etc. Tried everything. FINALLY FOUND the answer. Open the drivers door and carefully cut back the rubber boot holding the wire harness to the door. There were a few wires separated but the white wire with an orange stipe was the one causing the dash lights to do that.

Had similar issues with my 2005 T&C with ~100k mi. Gauge lights flicker, during startup speedo and tac needles go max and back to normal, random alert sounds, radio/Nav doesn't show clock time, AC will suddenly momentarily stop and restart, engine seems to stutter for a second and smooth out. Cleaned grounds, replaced battery twice, replaced relays, checked all fuses, pulled electrical plugs on all doors. No changes. Finally cut the battery cables and replaced with after market splices- 'duralast'. Poof- problem gone! $24 fix! I understand there are a variety of problems with the same symptoms, and some owners have spent a small fortune chasing the solution. I wanted to share my solution with others.

I have a 2003 Chrysler Town and country and my headlight switch will not shut off my headlights. They recently started shutting off as if it was auto lights. My dash stays lit up though. Even with van shut off....any suggestions????

Amber, cheap first attempt is to swap around the relays in the fuse panel. two common types in there and you can shift them. Then check grounds -I'd start with the one under the fuse panel - you can get to it by removing battery and tray. The other is on the engine block -transaxle. Clean thoroughly. If no luck I suspect you are on to BCM and front module.

I have an '05 T&C. All my lights, gauges and radio would go crazy. I noticed my positive cable on my battery was pulled snug across some metal at the firewall. I isolated it so it was not touching any metal at all. No problems in 2 months so far. I really hope this helps, it was driving me crazy. Good luck & have a wonderful day.

Alisoncarver-read these comments carefully. The same symptoms are produced by several different problems. If you have some mechanical ability and are willing to do some detective work you can probably get it fixed and save a lot of $. Prof. Mechanics cannot afford the time to run all the simple things to ground -they need to make a living. If you put a new battery in and the flickering goes away for only a few days and comes back- it's likely in the charging circuit. Checking and cleaning the ground on the engine block / transmission and under the battery box from the fuse panel are easy checks. You can unplug the door wiring plugs ( in the door jams) front and sliders. Check the flickering lights each time. There's a white wire with blue stripe that can be broken and cause the flickering. Look for wear in the wire insulation. My flickering finally went away when I cut the battery cables and added aftermarket splices back to the battery. Try to save the BCM, new alternator , replace the fuse panel, etc. for last. Very expensive trouble shooting. Sometimes works -mostly doesn't.

Had a simmilar issue with my 2012 t&c. Dash would flicker off and back on while driving. Replaced my battery and it stopped happening. Not sure if the new battery fixed it, or just the unplugging to replace the battery fixed the issue.

For me it was the cut wires in the door. I soldered them back together and problem solved.

Jon G Houston wrote: "My flickering finally went away when I cut the battery cables and added aftermarket splices back to the battery." This was a tip-off for me. I checked the battery connectors first, and the negative connector was loose, even though it appeared to be tightened down as far as possible. The positive terminal had the same problem (not very tight), but to a lesser degree. I was able to remove them both, open them up a bit, seat them as far down onto the posts as they could possibly go, and re-tighten them so that they are on firmly. This seems to be working at the moment, but as soon as NAPA opens after the holiday, I'll be putting better after-market connectors on both terminals. The original equipment seems to be pretty poorly designed/manufactured. They can appear to be fully onto the terminal posts, and still not be able to tighten far enough to make a genuinely solid connection before they bottom out.

Did you find the issue? Our van just started doing this

I have a 2010 Town and Country. I've been having a similar issue since I purchased my T&C two years ago (sad story--I got rid of my old Chrysler van and bought this one because my old van was doing the SAME THING!) All these things happen at once: * My dash control gauges will suddenly "drop" (go from 2000 rpm to 0, go from 60 mph to 0) then return to normal. * The engine light, abs brake lights, etc. will come on momentarily (the lights that come on when you start the vehicle). * I hear a beep like when first putting the key in the ignition. All this happens while driving!! Sometimes, I can see the dash lights or the headlights flickering before it happens and I know it's coming. To fix it, I pull over, turn off the car, wait for a minute before starting again. When I start it, I insert the key, wait for the 5 "dings" then start the car (I guess I'm letting it warm up like a diesel engine??) Lately, however, it seems to be worse -- perhaps the cold weather? -- and the engine actually stopped while I was turning left this morning. Reading these posts has me asking myself if my problem could be fixed with changing the battery cables... Any help anyone could offer would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I have a 2008 grand care van its doing all this crazy stuff too i just had it with this van

My warning lights, on dashboard, started flickering. I own a 2008 chrysler town and country. All the things on this site was helpful. I found my back passenger sliding door to have broken wires. The plastic chain covering came off and I didnot tape wires well enough together. Two broken wires were touching the body of the van and one wire was lodged between the rolling wheels. Once I corrected my issues, the flickering problems were solved.

I had a broken wire for my blind spot sensor that caused this problem as well. Warning light would come on saying service blind spot system then all my lights would come on the dash plus my wipers

I have a 2009 dodge grand caravan. The dash lights flicker while driving. Also my drivers window buttons and door lock buttons dont work. I am assuming there are broken wires in the wiring harness in the drivers door..

I would like to repeat one of the posts as I had the same problem on a 2008 Chrysler T & C van, Gauges would flash, speed and RPM gauges cycle up and down, wipers and head light go on and off, and the none of the door functions would work, (electric windows and locks When you would open the driver door everything would go back to normal, when the door was closed it started again. It turned out to be 6 wires broken inside the rubber tube that run from the door to the frame. After opening and closing the door for years the wires break. It's almost impossible to just reconnect if you want to keep the tube in tack. I added jumper wires to allow me to get to the wires and solder them back together and covered the solder joint with heat shrink. I suppose you could us crimps but the solder seems more permanent. Hope this helps.

I have this problem, did almost everything in this thread. I have corrected a few but clearly not done. Now it only does it on the first start up after sitting overnight. Does that indicate anything? Headlights wipers and instrument cluster flash 3 times

I've been having this problem since October 2019 on my 2009 T&C. The tips on here were very helpful. I took my vehicle to mechanics at reputable shops and they couldn't diagnose it because the vehicle wouldn't reproduce issues when they had it. Finally, yesterday 6/22/2020 I removed the battery and found the bolt at the bottom of battery shelf had leaked crud on it from the battery cable that was changed out sometime ago. Cleaned that up and so far so good. I will update in a couple of weeks. Grateful for this page!

Upon leaving the grocery store, all the sensor lights started to blink and ding on my 2008 Town and Country and my wiper blades were going on, even though they were off. I pulled over, shut off the van and waited for a few minutes before turning back on with everything going back to normal. Decided to call my mechanic, who never heard of this problem, and dropped my van off to him. Within minutes of him looking at the van, it started to do the same thing for him (how often does that actually happen) except the windows went down and wouldn't go back up. In researching this problem, since no one else seemed to ever hear of it, I learned that the TIPM (which is your whole fuse/relay box) can go bad (or at least certain components in it) and will absolutely cause your vehicle to act like it is possessed. In my particular case, I had hit a deer and had my hood slightly open along the side where the fuse box is, so apparently some water got into it and shorted certain fuse/relays out. There is a company out of California where you can either send them your old TIPM for them to fix and return to you or you can order a rebuild TIPM from them. I opted to get the re-built (since it was faster). It arrived within two days, my mechanic put it in, and everything seems to be normal thus far (it has been over a month now). It cost me $225.00 (including shipping) but you can also sent them back your old TIPM (minus the lid, you'll need it for the rebuilt one) with free shipping where you'll receive a credit for your old TIPM (mine was for $50.00). According to the instructions (and they give great instructions along with an online video and 800 number support), it is very easy to take out your old TIPM and put in the new one. I decided to pay my mechanic to do it but it did look very easy. I have no idea if this is your issues as well but if you have checked everything else that is relatively easy to check and it doesn't solve the problem, this is something to look into. If it turns out NOT to be the problem, this company out of California will accept your return, minus a re-stocking fee. I hope this helps!!!

My mechanic also said some wiring in the door harness was frayed and he repaired. It sounds like it could be several different things so I would definitely start with battery first and the cables going to it. Then I would look at any wiring that goes to doors, as Chrysler has recalls going on due to the wire harnesses. Check to make sure your particular VIN doesn't have a wire harness recall. My year and make did but not my VIN number. If all that seems to check out, I would definitely think about either sending out your TIPM to get repaired (MAK'S goes through each fuse and relay to check it to see which ones are bad) or just order a rebuilt one. They accept returns, if that wasn't the problem, minus a restocking fee. But they also buy back your old TIPM for like $50.00. They give wonderful instructions on how to take the old one out and put the new one in (on their website). If it wasn't for one person suggesting this problem and me going through MAK's, I would have probably scrapped my van, that I've already put thousands of dollars of repairs into, and had to buy something else. I'm not sure why most mechanics have never heard of this problem, as when speaking with different people I know, several of them knew of someone who had this same problem and each time it turned out to be the TIPM. From what I've read online, this is a problem with Chrysler and one website and stated, "If you've heard of a TIPM, you must own a Chrysler". Many sites are trying to get them to recall these, since it seems to be a huge problem, and yet most mechanics haven't heard of it, which is very confusing to me. Please post if this fixed your problem.

I too have the same problem with my 2005 town and country van. We will be driving and the dashboard goes nuts.. Gages go haywire radio flickers off and on.. Only thing that does not is the speedometer ‍♀️... We put it in the shop for 2 days.. The mechanic said it was the alternator, so we let him replace it... he was having a hard time "reproducing" the issue so he took it out for a test drive.. And it happened again (so not the alternator) After the 3rd day he called and said he "accidentally" found the issue (or what he thought was the issue) by leaning up against the van (with the hood open) and touching one of the battery terminals.. It shocked his hand... So he called and told me what had happened and said he believed that was the issue. I told him go ahead a change it out. He did that we picked up the van and not 2 months later... BAM, same thing!! So reading some of these comments I am going to try replacing the battery terminals with heavy lead ones... I hope that helps.. Also, I will check the wires in the door if it still happens after we change the terminals. I really need this fixed.. I spent my very last $700 ($689) trying to get it fixed the first time.. I have 2 special needs kids and this van is our only transportation...Well I have a 1988 Cadillac (my aunt gave me 50k original miles BC she was 2nd owner) but it's doing very similar stuff. Battery is brand new, alternator is brand new, starter is brand new, but you go to start it and it needs a jump. Once it's going you drive it and it will die and need another jump... I can't figure any of this out on my own and I don't have the money to pour into it like that... So fixing this van is super urgent for us! Thank you all so much for your answers!!! It would be awesome if it was a simple cheap fix!!!!
