Could Oil Change Cause Car to Seize?
Asked by PriusChicago Sep 13, 2015 at 11:06 PM about the 2009 Toyota Prius
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
We have a 2009 Prius. Was driving just fine. Went to get an oil change today.
Shop does oil change, performs "routine check-up" and finds nothing wrong.
We leave, and drive two blocks down the road and car seizes (slows down to a
halt and won't go). Was this potentially the shop's fault and if so, what would
have caused this to happen? Thank you!

The car was towed back to the shop but we're afraid they're going to say it had nothing to do with them, when clearly it was functioning perfectly fine before we got the oil change...
Can't think. Gotta know your stuff. No room for second guessing..
Take it back They are liable for this.Under Title 4 . Section 108-3. They violated your rights..
Bad or completely clogged oil filter that starved engine ,, remove filter with witness present before they do and save for evidence
It's a Prius! The only people who should work on it are people who are familiar with hybrids- take it to the dealer and let them sort out the problem- most likely, the electronics that control the interaction between the gas engine and the electric motor- c'mon, this is no ordinary car and you can not treat it as such-
