why doesn't my car start?

Asked by DodgeCharger_09 Sep 21, 2015 at 07:41 PM about the 2009 Dodge Charger

Question type: General

Before I got home I put my car in park still running and gear shift got stuck
and wouldn't go to drive. I pushed the safety lock beside the gear box and
released it. Then I got home parked in the driveway and turned off my car.
I tried to start it again but  it turns over and doesn't start.  So I try to move
the shift to drive  when the key is turned towards the way you start a car
and wouldn't move unless I push the safety lock , but the car just won't
start. So is this a problem with the gear shift  or something else...thanks
