2009 GC Tranny Slow Shift into Gear

Asked by Wapes09Jeep Jul 29, 2010 at 08:20 PM about the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My GC often times takes a long time 5-10 seconds to engage into gear when shifting out of Park.  It mostly occurs into reverse, but that's how we mostly park it.  Sometimes you think it's in reverse and give it some pedal, it revs to 1500-2000rpm then slams into gear.  Doesn't seem right, dealer can't find anything.  It can happen as soon as 4-5 hours after being driven.  All other aspects of the tranny seems OK.  Although twice it has selected 4th gear and could not be 'paddle' shifted out of 4th - had to shut truck off and restart.  4.7L V-8.  Any help out there?
