2009 dashboard blinks no response from ignition

Nothing  but blinking dashboard lights when I turned key. No engine turn over no nothing

1st thing to do is test battery for voltage then remove both posts clean them and re-charge it and try again. Or go to store and buy a new battery if you still pushing the original '09 battery! It is no different than turning a flashlight and seeing a very dim bulb! What do you check or replace??? batteries!
