A/C Mode Motor Replacement - How difficult is this to replace

Asked by goalie101464 Mar 09, 2012 at 08:02 AM about the 1998 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Colby answered the following question, indicating that the issue is with the Mode Motor - Thanks Colby! "I own a 1998 Honda Civic LX (117,000 miles). Air conditioner is working fine, but the buttons to control the location of the air will not change. Air is blowing from main vents only. I cannot get the air to blow as a defroster for the front windshield. Is there a motor inside the dash that controls the damper for directing the air? All fuses are ok."
Follow up: How difficult is this to replace?  Anyone have any drawings for replacing this? Thx in advance

you have to remove the whole front dash to be able to see it... it needs no diagram, the vents will already stick out if you remove the middle dash (radio, a/c control etc.) and the passenger side (glove compartment).
