My 1998 Honda Passport starts but won't stay on and it lurches while driving, like gas is being pulled without my foot touching the gas pedal. Does anyone know what this problem could be?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I also drive this car two to three times a week about 90 miles each time (roundtrip). This problem with the lurching started a few weeks ago, the starting issue as well. I have had the battery tested and the starter, they are both fine. The alternator has been replaced, the ignition is good.

Get the codes read to see if any are pending. Try a new fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced recently. A new air filter and a set of plugs won't hurt either.
