Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had a distributer problem and after changing distributor, the engine has become intermittent. It can get a spark and sometimes there is no spark causing the car to work intermittently. Have just been advised to buy a new main relay as this is nuw suspected problem. am in love with this honda so need to know what else to look for if problem persists

did you connect the spark plug wires to the correct spot on the distributer and to the correct cylinder? If you didn't it will send the signal to spark to the wrong cylinder at the wrong time which will cause that. also if your spark plug wires are old check to make sure they don't have tears. If they have tears and are making contact with another wire it can cause the signal to go to both cylinders to spark and cause a misfire. Those would be the two first things id check.
