Complete stalling of a 91 Accord 5 speed

Asked by PINEAPPLE Feb 08, 2019 at 09:02 PM about the 1991 Honda Accord

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After shifting into nuetral from 5th for a red light,
the car stalled trying to put it into first. Now
regardless of the gear, including nuetral, the car
stalls when the clutch is released. Had to get a tow
truck home. Would a ceased clutch or throw out
cause this, or maybe it be stuck in 5th? I'm
stumped and broke. Please help.

With the car off, not running, put the car in first, press the clutch in and start the car. Does it try to move?

When car is off in nuetral, if I get out and push it the engine spins with it, how can I tell what gear it's stuck in

Ive got the transmission out of the car, when its shifted into 3rd it works normally with no resistance, but any other gear, the gears lock up. But in nuetral it works like its in 3rd is it worth taking apart, or should i just go buy one from the junk yard
