Thumping noise when making turns

Asked by GuruW7YPB May 30, 2018 at 08:35 AM about the 2010 Subaru Outback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On making turns, my manual transmission 2010subaru outback makes a
thumping noise.  I have taken it to several repair people, I have had my tires
and pressure checked and I have had my clutch which was malfunctioning
repaired, but thumping on turns persists.  I was told it may be a reverse clutch
and it is very expensive to repair.  My car only has 82,000 miles on it.  What
are your thoughts.

"Reverse clutch"?! Hmmm...may be unobtanium--which indeed IS very expensive. What speed? May be a dry inner axle joint...more likely the inner (DOJ). Flat spots on tires thump, so you did rotate to notice thump travel? Do you feel it in the steering wheel or just hear it?
