My 2010 needs a kick off after work

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When my 2010 Chevrolet Impala needs a kick off I get a service battery
charger. After I get a kick off it runs fine but a few weeks later I have the
same problem. What could be the problem and how can I remedy this
issue?

I'm guessing you mean a jump start? As in the battery is dying? If so, you need to locate what is draining the battery. Any aftermarket additions to the vehicle? Jeremy Taulborg Redline Motorsports (614) 808-6788 redline.motorsports@usa.com

Yes I do mean a jump start. There are no aftermarket additions to the vehicle. It dies every now and again after being parked while I'm at work. But again once I get the jump off it runs fine. Only have had this problem twice so far.
If the battery is original AC/Delco it's time to replace it. Factory batteries last about 5 years give or take a year. If the battery is only a year or so old the have your alternator checked for output voltage. It should be just about 14.2 volts while the car is running.
Good call Jeremy (kickoff). If it dies in that quick a time ... test the battery and alternator. Battery could be junk or the diodes in the alternator are not shutting off when the key is off. If those test good disconnect negative battery cable and just lightly touch it back on the battery if you a slight snap or arc you have a good draw. Look around in the car for lights staying on. Lighters that may be on and will be hot. Anything more than that see a pro. Electrical is nothing to play with or guess at.

I've had the battery tested and was told its good but I'll try getting the alternator tested as well. Thanks a lot
