Why can't we get brake's

My nephew has a 97 Ford Rangers two wheel
drive 5 speed with a 3600 motor and he can't
seam to figure out why he has no break lights
can someone please help please and thank
you.

Are all the brake lights out? Or is the 3rd brake light still working? If they're all out I'd suspect the brake light switch. But if the 3rd brake light is working I'd suspect the turn signal switch. The 3rd brake light is not wired through the turn signal switch. But the other two are. Hope that helps! Jim
