Automatic or manual transmission?
If it is a manual 5 speed the link should help. Also you have a 2.3 litre not a 2.4.....http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/223815- changing-fluid-in-m5od-5-speed-manual-transmission.html
http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/97ranog1e.pdf - Page364 Both manual and automatic use MERCON ATF 4X2 - 9.5 quarts and 4X4 - 9.8 quarts. But that is total capacity. It will never need that much to re-fill for a change. And I agree with Bob, it's a 2.3L
Probably 4 or 5 quarts in an automatic dropping the pan only. It is likely not a 4x4 as they were V-6 only.
Have much oil go in a manual transmission on a 1994 Mazda B2300
What brand transmission 1991 ranger
Actually Bob that's false the 2.3l did come with the 4x4 option but there's not very many
