how much transmission fluid do I need for fluid change

http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/97ranog1e.pdf - Page364 Both manual and automatic use MERCON ATF 4X2 - 9.5 quarts and 4X4 - 9.8 quarts. But that is total capacity. It will never need that much to re-fill for a change. And I agree with Bob, it's a 2.3L

Probably 4 or 5 quarts in an automatic dropping the pan only. It is likely not a 4x4 as they were V-6 only.

Actually Bob that's false the 2.3l did come with the 4x4 option but there's not very many

my 2.8 ranger been sitting for 2 years, it is dry in tans fluid. put 2 quarts and still stickking gears. how much does it need before it runs normal
