Ignition Cylinder

Asked by Foxy2003 Dec 12, 2018 at 03:28 AM about the 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’m replacing the Ignition Cylinder in my 2003
Hyundai Sante Fe. My power steering fluid
reservoir doest have the lid. After taking the
old ignition cylinder out the steering wheel
started popping and became very hard to
turn and makes a wining noise. Are these
things connected? And if so will replacing the
reservoir and lid stop the noise or should I
look into replacing steering column?

Get a lid on your power steering pump. Low fluid is the likely cause for your "whining noise". Not to mention you are likely contaminating the hydraulic fluid with water!
