AC Accumulator is simply missing
I have a friend who has asked me to help repair the AC on a car he just purchased. The car is a 1997 Ford Taurus GL, with the 3.0L V-6 Engine code U. Iit looks to me like the previous owner simply took the AC accumulator out of the car. We were wondering if, and it may not be possible, there would have been anything that would have lead the previous owner to simply remove that component, and not replace it. Would a bad compressor/condenser, or something else give someone reason to butcher the system, and just take the accumulator out?
The attached picture is where I think the accumulator is supposed to go. It's been so long since I have been under the hood of a Taurus, I forget exactly where it should have been.
