Stuck in 4-wheel low

Truck says it's in 4-wheel low on dashboard
however it was never put into four-wheel
drive at all. If you put it into 4 wheel High it
reads 4 wheel drive low and high. I don't
think that it could go 35 miles per hour if it
was truly in 4-wheel drive but it seems like
there is no power and I can't climb Hills very
well. The check engine light was on so kit to
get it diagnosed and it said something was
wrong with the vacuum. We've tried the
going and drive going in reverse and we've
also try disconnecting the battery which
seems to work temporarily and then it starts
doing it again once it's restarted. Any
suggestions? Could this possibly be just a
vacuum?

Might be a vacuum leak, problem with the transfer case shifting control or an electrical problem. If it were mine I would take it to a trusted mechanic or your local Toyota dealership for evaluation.

I am currently having this same issue. My 08 tundra is telling me four low on the dash but it is not engaged. When driving my rpm's are high and can have no power. Disconnecting the battery resets the computer for a short time but the issue comes back. Did you ever resolve the problem and if so would you mind sharing what is happening.

We have the same issue truck gets stuck in 4wheel drive and only after I disconnect battery does it reset back to 2 wheel drive. And then happens again if we put in 4 wheel drive again until I disconnect battery again Toyota says there’s no problem. Ha

It happened to my truck a while back. Turned out that replacing the emissions box ( a 5k part with 3 separate motors in it) was what fixed it
