Fan blower

Asked by Lewsinger Feb 29, 2016 at 12:52 PM about the 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car's fan won't stop (happening more
often) when the car shuts off. If I slam down
the hood it usually will stop but even that is
not working as well.

Are you asking about your cabin heater/AC fan or the cooling fan on the engine?

Your car probably has an electric cooling fan that shuts down when the engine temp drops to a pre-determined level. It does not necessarily stop when the engine stops running. Probably a coincidence that it turned off for you when you shut the hood. No need to do anything - it is not a problem unless it continues to run when the engine is cold (this will drain your battery). They usually shut down in under 5 minutes.
