Handling in the Rain

Question type: General

This is my 2nd summer with my 2000 Elantra - I don't recall having trouble with the handling in heavy rain last summer.  The past few months though have been really treacherous for me on the road - car seems to be all over the place - like I'm on a sheet of ice.  Anyone else experience this?  My tires seem OK.  It's so bad I've had to completely avoid driving if it's pouring out.

"tires seem ok"- but obviously they are not- tires are the one thing you cannot cheap out on- I learned this lesson a long time ago in a land far, far, away- after totalling my favorite car, I learned the lesson forever- start here- go shopping for new tires- something that says "rain tire"- something expensive, like Michelin, Yokohama, etc. oh yes, it will cost some coin- but not as much as a wrecked car- and a hurt body maybe, let's remember that
