2010 2500 hd 6.0L

I have a 2004 chevy 2500HD 6.6 Duramax Diesel, I get 12.5 city and about 15 on the highway with no performance upgrades. Those 6.0 vortec motors always seem to get poor mpg. To increase mpg and even more horsepower you can try buying upgrades that save fuel such as a programmer (chip), exhaust system or air intake system. I recently ordered a turbo-back exhaust system and a banks ram-air intake system I am getting about a 3-4mpg increase. I am soon purchasing the ATS diesel programmer which i am told will give me an additional 2-3 mpg and a huge power increase, (but these are diesel numbers, gas is a whole different world) but it can still help you out at the gas pump. If you are running regular unleaded gas in your truck you can try running a higher octane gasoline such as plus(89 octane) or premium(93 octane) in your truck because higher octane fuel burns cleaner and can give you better fuel milage. Your numbers are about right. I have a 2006 HD 4x4 its getting between 12 to 14 mpg. I'm running it half and half hwy and town. We feel your pain at the pump.6.0 ltr. Vortec pay for the power.

I had a 2007 2500HD Ext'd Cab Long Bed with the 6.0L (2WD) and I got 9.9 in city and 14.8 on highway. But when I add Octane Booster (fuel additive found at most Auto Parts stores) with every other tank full and the MPG went up to as high as 17MPG. Now I own a 2012 2500HD Crew-Cab shortbed (2WD) with the 6.0L and I am practicing the same method of additive enhancement. Try it and let me know if it worked for you.

when i drive my work truck , a 2005 2500 hd crewcab diesel, i usually get around 11 city and about 14 highway, my boss drove the truck from ohio to pennsylvania and only used a quarter tank.

Hey Guys, I recently bought a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD w/ the Vortec 6.0. Lately ive been getting 12-13 MPG and regular country roads. Im trying to upgrade my truck and atleast get 400HP with 15MPG. All i thought about getting was Leveling Kit (i know that doesn't help) K&N Air Intake and some bigger tires. Trying too make this my Performance Truck/While getting the job done. Can anyone tell me how to get. Lots of HP Gain and MPG Gain. Please Help.

check your rearend ratio- there will be a code in the glovebox on a silver or white tag with a black strip on top- they are in alphabetical order- GT4 is a 3.73 and GT5 is a 4.10 rearend- if it is a GT5 then that is about right- if it is a GT4 then it should get 16 or so hwy and 12-13 city.

I have an 09 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0.... crew cab 4wd with a 6" lift and 38" tires, intake, spacer, and programmer.. 12mpg in city. 16 on the highway with 4.56 gears.. before the lift I was getting 20 or better with 3.73 gears

I have a 13 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 Single cab long bed similar to the white truck I have Airaid cold air intake throttle body spacer with throttle body, custom true dual exhaust with headers high flow cats Flowmaster 50 Sieries with echo tips, 2inch level lift kit, running 33's, upgraded ignition coil packs with thicker spark plug wires and upgraded spark plugs with high volume oil pump to get rid of that annoying knock in the morning no programmer. I run mostly highway and average 18mpg while pushin close to 400hp now bhp I don't know about. But I do pull a fifth wheel travel trailer with weighing a little over 10thousand pounds and my 6.0 hates pulling the trailer at 80mph but with the trailer I average about 12mpg with my foot buried to the floor. I should of bought a diesel.....

I will also note that I do a lot of heavy driving and I do long trips and this is the only truck that I've noticed that does this the first full tank it drinks down but the second full tank will last a lot longer then the first one idk what it is so the mpg very's but my best was 18 running from South Texas to North Michigan I'm trying to find a way to help my truck coast better down the highway I'm open for tips.

Canada here. 6.0 2008 on gmc 2500 wt long bed. Ext cab. I get about 4.5 to 6 km/L. Converting to miles it's about 10.125 miles per galon. On the low end. That is city driving. Considering what the engine is. It's probably the best we'll see. Now it's your choice. Dump a lot of money in stupid upgrades to get a mediocre economy increase. Or just drive it and use de money for gas and avoid premature repairs!

Get a Honda if you want gas mileage. Duh

I HAVE A 2009 2500 WITH THE 6.0 AND ITS CONVERTED FOR CNG (NATRUAL GAS), AND IM GETTING 22 MPG!

It depends on what you want out of a truck. I have a 2015 silverado with 23000 miles,crew cab and long box. It has a 6.0 and a 4.10 rear end. It is my work truck and work it we do. The mileage is awful about 10 mpg but it holds a ton of tools/equipment,a crew of men and will tow a house. It is not you're everyday driver, 6.0s were not built for fuel effiecency they were built for work and hauling. Again it depends on what you want or need. Dan

Trucks these days need dual speed rear differentials. The technology has been out there for many, many decades.

I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD my average gas mileage is 13 miles in the city on a good day on the highway 16 to 18. But I have clean the tank out and redid the pension on the truck. This truck will about pull anything it's kind of insane how much pulling power it has for a gas truck. But my truck. Weighs 6700 lb

If you do a lot of heavy pulling on a regular basis, the 6.0 will do it, but don't expect the same mpg's that you would get from a 6.6 Duramax. In the long run the Duramax will save you money over the 6.0. If you only occasionally pull heavy loads that require an HD, then the 6.0 would be the better bet. Trying to ramp up a gas engine with add ons and tunining to get a few more horsepower and mpg's is amusing, but not practical.

Holy cow if you don't worry about gas mileage go by a Prius that's going to be the only thing is going to be worth buying for gas mileage anymore

I have a 2012 2500 6.0 on 35's I get 9 mpg city, highway, or interstate. I also get 4.5 mpg pulling my 32ft gooseneck. Doesn't matter what gas I run or what size tires I run it's always 9mpg

I have a 2009 Silverado 2500hd 6.0.i average 10 to 12 around town. Put cold air intake and tuner and it was worse. Tows my fifth wheel great, so I just eat it at the pump. Great running and well taken care of. It's paid for so the payments now go to gas.
