Clutch Pedal Sticking
My clutch pedal on my 99 Hyundai sonata 2.4L sticks after running the a/c for about 10 to 15 minutes, ill press it down and it will stick for a few seconds then pop back up. and when i press it down it is really hard to do and hurts my foot.
Possible Causes: Bad clutch disc / Bad pressure plate Bad Cluch Disc: There's not really any way to determine positively that the clutch disc is bad. However, if you can not engage the transmission into any gear with the engine running but, can engage it into gear with the engine shutdown., that's a good sign that either the clutch disc or pressure plate is bad. You can get some indication of the condition of the clutch by performing a clutch disc wear check. Bad Pressure Plate: Like the clutch disc, there's not really any way to determine positively that the pressure plate is bad. Again, if you can not engage the transmission into any gear with the engine running but, can engage it into gear with the engine shutdown., that's a good sign that either the clutch disc or pressure plate is bad.
I wold look under the dash for a ruptured or cracked A/C duct (hose ) maybe it's blowing cold air on some part of your clutch linkage . Does this car have a hydraulic clutch ?
are you sure the A/C has something to do with it ? sounds like to me your slave cylinder is bad
If , and I have seen this happen before , somebody serviced the throwout bearing and left the dustcover off the bellhousing this will allow all manner of road dirt and water into the bellhousing. this can reak havock on all sliding surfaces (which is really what the clutch is all about ) I would check the throwout bearing and in particular the clutch fork and it's pivot . on cars with alluminum bellhousings the clutch fork pivot was usually a steel ball screwed into the bellhousing just ahead or behind the slave cylinder .If it's wore out that would do it . lastly there's usually some sort of spring either on the fork or up under the dash that prevents the linkage from going over center . this sounds like what might be goin on with your car . good luck. usually if the clutch disk is worn out there will be a squealing sound as the clutch is slowly engaged . the squeal is caused bt the rivets that normally don't touch the pressure plate or flywheel . but as the friction material wears away from both sides of the disk the rivet heads get exposed to rubbing action and they squeal (metal to metal )
