Hard to get 2007 Sonata into first gear; clutch doesn't seem to engage until close to the floor

Asked by dburns318 Feb 08, 2016 at 12:54 AM about the 2007 Hyundai Sonata GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata which I bought late last year.  It has seemed to me for a while that I have to give a great deal of gas and let the clutch up very slowly to keep from stalling in first gear;  now it seems as if the clutch doesn't engage until it's more that half-way depressed; and I sometimes have to force the shift lever into gear; particularly in first--but sometime in the other gears as well.  Any thoughts?

Sound like you are having a problem with the clutch system. Possible Clutch Master Cylinder, or Clutch Release Bearing & Slave Cylinder Assembly. You could try to bleed out the system and check the fluid level, but otherwise these items would need to be checked.
