Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1997 eleantra ive had about 2 months gaven to me by my uncle bc he got a new fous and he had everything fixed and i just got the belts tightened because of major squelin, but what te funny issue is that sometimes the elantra when i put on gas fast it will do kind of a kick back like its some kinda black powder fun and then itll  go sounds weird and is funny but it doesnt happen really often just every once and awhile was wondering what that might be doing that? I know its a older car so i expected quirks but its a very good car actually very impressed with hyundai now that i have one.

might be defective transmission and a case of really old pistons that had not been tuned up or oil hasnt been changed for a long time...ask an expert about this...
