‘08 Hyundai Elantra Electrical Issue?

Asked by Andersonsk17 May 23, 2018 at 11:06 AM about the 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So out of nowhere this weekend my “check engine”
light came on, and I originally thought it was due to
my gas cap not being on all the way. Went through
a drive cycle and it’s still on.

Today I noticed that when I step on the brake, the
lights for the dashboard clock, odometer, and radio
turn off. Nothing in the car actually turns off, just the
lights. What could be the issue?

I have a 2012 and recently my engine light came on. I don’t have the issue of dashboard lights going out but the dealer told me it needed a computer upgrade (free) Maybe you too? Good luck
