BMW traction control

Driving on the motorway today when suddenly car started
to lose power and traction control light came on. Light
started to go on and off and felt like car was switching
between power and no power. Car never actually stopped
but kept jerking in and out of power. Any ideas what this
problem may be?

The traction control is activating for some reason. Are the wheels slipping? Rear end binding? Tires fully inflated? If not, check for OBDii trouble codes next.
