Sounds like a temperature blend door is either jammed brocken or there could be problems goin on with what opens and closes it. Your pretty much gonna have to remove the whole dash from the car to fix it.

Before you tear your dash apart, have a BMW specialist (independent or dealer) hook it up with their diagnostic computers. Our cars store amazingly detailed fault codes for even the ventilation system! Lets hope it is the climate control unit (available at ebay for around $100) rather than the stepper motors (which require the removal of the dash!), or the heat control valves. Oh, don't forget the cabin external AND recirculating filters - make sure they are not clogged up.

ive had problems with the freon not being fully charged and it casused the temp to be different from passgenger and drivers when both set the same.do you have the duel ihka ac?could be a stepper motor and they all have different part numbers so dont try to get one and then look for the problem.
