Coolant leak 96 aerostar

Asked by GuruFTGJT Apr 19, 2020 at 12:27 PM about the 1996 Ford Aerostar

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There is a small hole below the fan pulley that is
draining mostly all the coolant. I have been told it
is a freeze plug that goes in there but any I look up
online gives me engine plugs. It is much smaller
than the 1 1/2 inch plugs for the engine. Maybe
only 1/2 inch. Does this plug have a specific name?
I cant find it anywhere including a repair manual.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking at in your photo, but from what you describe it sounds like the weep hole on the water pump. Look at pictures of the water pump for your vehicle on Rockauto.com and you can see what I mean. If that's what is leaking, you need a new water pump. Hope that helps! Jim
