A good full synthetic like Mobil1 or Castrol Edge, you can go 10,000 miles if you have a quality filter. Wix. Purolater, Delco, and NO Fram or Wal ~Mart crap. Personally I change at 8,000 with Mobil1

look at your oil life on the computer menu... i tend to do it around 65-70%. 3000 is getting to be a little premature. it could go to 4000-5000 mi

Use Mobil 1 and a wix filter. You can get the filter at Napa or Autoquest. Do not use the cheap filters that most of the autoparts stores have on sale. If you drive the car with average mileage (10,000 or less per year), you should be good. When the oil is checked make note of the color of the oil on the dipstick. If it looks brown or black.....its time to change.
