How often should I get oil change?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My brother recently passed away and I inherited his car and I see sticker of when his next oil change, however, the car was sitting idle in garage for about a month and mileage is lower then number on sticker, what should I do? Should I get oil change now or wait for mileage to hit number on sticker?

The mileage on sticker is higher because that's what the oil-change joints do, put the next recommended oil change mileage (according to them). Wait until at least the mileage on the sticker, then change oil every 5,000 miles after that. Sitting for a month does no harm. If you can find out if it had synthetic oil at last change, you can wait even longer
I personally like to change oil every 3,000 but I keep my cars forever and put a lot of miles on them. Like Ford says you can go longer on synthetic oil. If your oil is clean at 3,000 miles I would go longer between changes but if the oil looks really bad I would change it at 3,000. How many miles are on the car?
