Pulling a trailer

Asked by GuruZBHLX Oct 27, 2017 at 04:07 PM about the 2011 Mazda MAZDA2

Question type: General

Can I tow a 4x8 trailer with a mazda 2, 2011?
Uhaul says it can, but I wonder.

I believe the towing capacity is #2,000 with trailer brakes. Take it easy and don't overload as this car is not the best choice for towing.

I tow a Scamp trailer with a Mazda 2, 5 speed. I up sized the tires by two size in diameter to lower the gear ration. Can not pull a very steep hill from a dead stop. I never go over 60 mph. Mileage went for 38 to 22 mpg when towing.

Upsizing the tires does not lower the gear ratio it raises it. No wonder you have problems on hills.
