i have 96 cvpi engine and about to buy a 02 crown vic without engine and transmission so
i would like to know before or should i search for another body for the engine

Yes but...I would only swap the Long Block. Keep all of the '02 stuff with the '02 body. Valve covers, injectors, oil pan etc. Transmission: IDK. My consult a dismantler about that one.

The Long Block is the bare Heads and Block as an assembly - no covers or oil pan. A Short block is just the Block with the pistons and crank by itself.
