Is it common for the computer to fry along with the
alternator going bad?

No a mechanic i know spoke with a dodge dealership mechanic and supposedly he said that when the alternator goes it sometimes fries the computer.i wondered if its really possible or did it happen due to his negligence.

Just had the same issue. 2012 durango 5.7l. Alternator has short to ground. Almost burned the car down with my family in it. Still troubleshooting to see if computer is fried. Best case its the alternator and battery. Worst case its the alternator, battery, Computer and tipm. 822,,000 miles
