so my daughters check engi e light will come
on while she is driving and begins to flash. So
she pulls over and shuts the car down. Then
she tries to start it and it won't start. If she
waits for a few minutes and tries it again it
will start. We took it to a mechanic and he
couldn't find any codes. It just happened for
the 3rd time. Has anybody had this same
issue?

Could be the oil sensor. If low on oil and stopping or turning it will beep and shit down engine. You can’t see synthetic oil burning. My 2015 Jeep Cherokee would burn 1 qt. every 1000-2000 miles. No codes stored.
A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. A "hard" misfire code may not set right away. I had that problem with my 03 Chevy S10 Pick Up. It could be a bad spark plug or bad ignition coil. If your Jeep has over 100,000 miles on it you're overdue for a tune up. I'd suggest that first. If the problem persists, take it to another mechanic who can test the ignition coils and find out what is going on. A tune up on your vehicle is spark plug replacement. Specify iridium spark plugs. They'll go 100,000 miles before they need to be replaced again. Hope that helps! Jim
Andy @ Jeep Diagnostics... 352-263-9102 The man is honest and thorough. He knows his craft when it comes to Jeep issues. He is a mobile technician based in Florida. Even if you're not in Florida, he is a knowledgeable and personable man that might be likely to steer you in the right direction. He did an excellent job for me at a reasonable price. I would recommend him to anybody with potential computer issues.
