I never really did much in buying motors off of a website. Though we did buy a 1nzfe engine off of ebay for about $600. Motor ran but needed a little work before I would have dropped it into one of my vehicle. Any time I've wanted to find a decent engine replacement I've always ended up at the salvage yard. I've rebuilt plenty of chevy and ford engines that came from the local pick and pull yard and on the average; most of the engines were in pretty good condition before pulling them apart. As in, they would definitely run if wired up. Not going to say they were like new, but for the most part; they'd be able to operate for quite some time. Only once did we find an engine with any major issues and that was a broken connecting rod in a chevy v8 from an older camaro.
