It really depends on your driving style and what you prefer while your driving. A supercharger will give you alot more down low take off with its torque and can usually keep the momenteum. The turbo will need that spool time before it kicks in which is great for high reving motors, also is you are running alot of boost, you will need to intercool it, for draggin, a V8 with a supercharge would be best! For street, i would go either! By the sounds of your motor, it would be far easier to put a positive displacement supercharger with no need for intercooling it. So what are you after, the all time boost from a supercharger or the Kick from a Turbocharger, keeping in mind V8's are low reving motors compared to Jap cars.

You should seriously consider a turbo, as it seems to be the "new" thing to do in the Pro Mod class. I would go blower, as it makes for a better launch.

I had the same truck last summer and know 360's in and out and that boat anchor of a motor would love a 408 stroker kit (youtube KRCPerformance) and a procharger and you;d be laughing

it woud be better to get a blower because they start off faster so you wont need the high rpm to get taht boost

i would defenetly go with a supper charger on a v8 because only ricers believe in turbo.

You actually have it reversed. The blower will have less power on the bottom end. Supercharge makes boost from a belt on the engine. So the higher the engine revs, the more boost you have that usually leads to more power. Turbo being powered of exhaust gases, will spool up at low rpms to give you max boost down low, but usually boost lowers as the revs get higher. That is the reason diesels use turbo's, cuz its efective at low rpms, not like superchargers...

SUPERCHARGER all the way ...smoot power , and NOT SOO HARD on the engine ..yehah TURBOS make more power ...but realibility ...?1 i ahve many freinds whit their jap cars , boosted turbos , and i show them what a L67 buik engine cand do :)

For a street motor i do recommend a supercharger because it is always there to stomp on and is as harsh on the motor sfor the reliability side super charger but again either way it depends on the cam and carb. no matter what you will need a new carburator and the cam was probably made for a naturally aspirated motors. Now if its a stock short block though aside from the cam you should be good to about 450 horsepower other wise keep out for a forged rotating assembly kit to handle the power. either one you do though will cost big bucks in just the prep of the motor to handle the new found boost and power. just my opinion though my dad had one of those trucks and they were tanks so what made you decide to build one?? pretty cool in my opinion

the reason diesels have turbos is because as you say they are powered by exhaust and diesel burns hot and expands more leading to more exhaust flow. realistically rpms have little to do with turbo it is just related to amount of exhaust pressure, which does increase with rpm. I say super charger for carburated engine for the facet that power is there all the time and will match your origanal torque curve just boosted. turbo would lagg out at hight rmp more due to burning too lean bucause of carb not meeting the incresed demand for fuel. Either way you will need to ramp up you fuel system but how much do you really want to spend?

turbo is much more expensive to get right for your needs go supercharger you can change pulleys(cheap) on a supercharger to get the power where you want it but a turbo you would have to replace to get adjusted where you want (Very Expensive)

turbos lag out not because of fuel input into engine but due to exhaust volume a diesel doesn't lag because of its higher compression ratios and how hot do you think a diesel turbo will get (900+ degrees) a gas turbo wont get nearly as hot and that actually has alot to do about the turbo efficienciesAmount of heat in exhaust because of expanding exhaust gasses from combustion
