Dead battery, radio won't turn off, no GPS, backup cam or radio climate display

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
So I go to leave today and have a dead battery. We jumped it off and let it run
for about 20 minutes. I noticed that the screen for radio, GPS and climate
control was black but the radio was playing. Also when it started it gave all
kinds of maintenance messages like low brake fluid, service power steering
that I have never seen before. Checked brake fluid and it was fine. Came back a
couple of hours later and it was dead again. Jumped it and drove 30 minutes.
Noticed that when I turned the car off and opened the door the radio stayed on.
So I turned it off by the button. An hour later I had to jump it off again. But now
the GPS and radio screen are back on but can't figure out what's killing my
battery. Also when I was driving at one point the little screen that is between the
odometer and RPM flashed, like it was really bright for a second and then back
to normal. Anyone else have this kind of issue? If so, what was the fix?

My 2013 chevy equinox is doing the same thing. And the service power steering appears at car start...all other inside power is delayed, I have to wait for the cars brain to catch up before I put car into drive before the steering is caught up with cars PC or the steering will not be right. I hate this car. I already spent $800 this past February to have blower motor replaced.
Oh yeah constant dead battery, inside controls for radio won't work...radio is on but you can't use any of the center console controls to change stations, or turn down volume. I have to use the control that's located in the steering wheel to turn volume. My heat controls stopped working too all at the same time. I had a friend disconnect one of the battery cables just to get the computer brain to reset...everything came back on....but I've done this before back in February just before the dealership charged me $800 to replace blower motor. So I'm gathering just because it gets reset doesn't mean something else isn't going to go out as the battery keeps draining as if something is really draining it especially if you disconnect and reconnect battery. Its almost like it's the Pre-warning sign. I think Chevrolet has to be aware of all these customer complaints issues with this Chevrolet equinox series...PURE GARBAGE CAR!! I bet I didn't even rely need a blower motor, who knows?
I have a 2014 Chevy Equinox. Just after purchasing the car trim started falling off. We are also having problems with the all wheel drive going out. Then it started going dead! We replaced the battery and all was well until today when it died again. I guess we just need to get rid of this car!!!!
Hi GuruX3819, I just purchased a brand new battery last weekend. I hear you did too, I guess I should expect that my 2013 equinox will start to do the same thing? It looks like these Chevrolet equinox's are GARBAGE!! And the dealership's are waiting on us to empty our pockets as soon as we have no choice but to take it to the dealership :( Disgusting!!!
My 2012 had a dead battery today. Jumped it and it ran just fine. After work. Dead again. Noticed the climate controls and back up cam didn't show. As I was getting out I noticed the radio stayed on after the keys where out and door opened. I figure that is what drained the battery. So has anyone actually found a fix for this beyond just selling the car?

I had this problem 2 weeks ago on my 2013 Equinox. I left town for a week planning to take the car to the dealership when I returned. When I got home the car was dead. After jumpstarting it, everything worked again. The dealership said the code reader indicated a low voltage battery. I've replaced the battery and now everything is fine. The battery lasted 7 years so I feel this is is a small inconvenience thought the cost was $200 for the battery and labor. I'm right at 98k miles so I expect I'll have some maintenance costs coming up but still cheaper than buying a new car.
